Last night we celebrated the launch of Books about Town at the beautiful Stanfords bookshop. What an amazing venue to welcome the brilliant artists, authors, sponsors and publishers who have come together to make this project happen!
Images of the 50 amazing completed benches were unveiled for the first time. The wonderful Cressida Cowell gave a hugely inspiring speech about waging a war on illiteracy and how the National Literacy Trust plays its part to tackle the issue in disadvantaged communities. We were thrilled to welcome the inimitable Ralph Steadman who has painted an Alice Through the Looking Glass bench, as well as Axel Scheffler, Malorie Blackman and countless other supporters of the project.
The BookBenches are installed on the streets of London next week and Books about Town is here for the summer!
